Developing a Contact List:

Posted by Rick on Jun 30th, 2020

Before you spend a penny prospecting, it is imperative that you are mailing your contact list at least on a monthly basis. Your contact list should include:

  • Friends
  • Family
  • Past Clients
  • Neighbors
  • Networking Contacts
  • Church/Political Party/Social Club Members
  • Past Employers, Colleagues or Co-Workers
  • Parents of your Children’s Friends
  • School Teachers
  • Your Insurance Agent, Your Mechanic, Your Hair Dresser…
  • ANYONE who knows you

You should send regular mailings to anyone who knows who you are. Since over half of your business should come from referrals, it is important to advertise your services on a consistent basis to anyone who knows you, trusts you, and may pass on your information to someone else. Not only are you tapping into your own market, but the hope is that these people will also refer you to others who need a real estate agent.

One of the first steps any new realtor should take is developing their contact list. In the beginning, you may only have a small list of 100 contacts, but grow this list over time as it is where you will get the majority of your business in the long run. The top realtors generally have a contact list of 400 or more and they will tell you that this is where your marketing dollars are best spent.
